The 816 Bicycle Collective has no paid staff and all members of the Collective are volunteers. We are a diverse group of individuals united by our belief in the Collective's mission. Decisions are made as a group, and each volunteer has an equal say.
If you're interested in volunteering, the best way is to come in and let us know! You can also fill out this form and a volunteer will reach out to you when they can to schedule a shift for you to come and shadow someone.
We accept volunteers with any (including no) mechanic experience. The most important factor is to be self-driven and willing to help and learn.
We call our volunteers Wrenchers.
WRENCH mechanics help patrons at the collective with bike needs during shop hours and are responsible for opening, greeting, running and closing the shop.
WRENCH mechanics will go through orientation and will have opportunities to increase their bike knowledge outside of shop hours.
